Welcome to Guinness Approved Nutrition
I’m so glad you’re here.
I’ve worked with animals my entire life — through pet rescues, zoos, and wildlife rehabilitation centers. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Biology, and caring for animals has always been at the center of both my personal and professional life. I am currently a Certified Pet Nutrition Coach through the NAVC.
How This Got Started
A few years ago, my son Gunnar began experiencing significant behavioral challenges. After months of trial and error, we eventually discovered that certain dyes and preservatives in his food were contributing to the problem. Once those ingredients were removed, the change was remarkable — his focus improved, emotional outbursts stopped, and he was able to better engage at school and in daily activities.
That experience completely changed the way I thought about food. While we’re far from perfect (we still enjoy junk food and fast food!), it opened my eyes to how profoundly diet can impact the body — especially over time.
The Connection to Guinness
Guinness Approved Nutrition was created in memory of my dog, Guinness.
Guinness was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of nine. He was diagnosed in July of 2025, and in December of that same year, we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go. Those five months were incredibly difficult, especially knowing there was very little we could do to help him.
After witnessing how diet affected my son, I found myself asking hard questions. Guinness had been fed a typical commercial kibble — not the worst, but certainly not the best — and I later learned that some of the ingredients were less than ideal. At the time, I simply didn’t know what I didn’t know.
I can’t say with certainty whether diet played a role in Guinness’ illness. But I do know that nutrition matters — and that what we feed our pets consistently over time can influence their overall health and resilience. I saw it in my son, so it’s possible it could be true with our animals too.
Moving Forward
When I later adopted new puppies, I made a promise to myself to give them a stronger nutritional foundation from the start. That way, whether they live another year or another fifteen, I know I’ve done everything within my control to support their health. I began researching everything there was to know about canine nutrition, which ultimately led to me getting my Certification.
My goal with Guinness Approved Nutrition is to help pet owners make thoughtful, informed feeding choices — not out of fear, but out of care. While not all diseases can be prevented, many health issues can be influenced by nutrition, and even small, intentional changes can make a meaningful difference over time.
